History:
Sometime in 1962,
Reverend Walter Herrington of Jefferson City, Missouri had a vision
of forming a financial institution for Missouri Baptist. He sought
the opinions of other Baptist in the religious community. Those
individuals viewed this institution as a way to assist Missouri
Baptist who were experiencing financial hardship. Mr. Herrington
wanted a place where Missouri Baptist could help other Missouri
Baptist. He spoke with area credit union Managers of Jefferson City,
on how to form a credit union. These individuals directed him to
the Missouri Credit Union Systems. Reverend Herrington visited with
a representative from this organization on several different occasions.
During the month of February 1963, Mr. Herrington along with seventeen
other interested individuals decided to hold an organization meeting
to form a financial institution for Missouri Baptist. On March 20,
1963, the Missouri Baptist Credit Union received its State Charter.
Today, the Missouri Baptist
Credit Union is committed to preserving the tradition of providing
quality service to its membership that they have received since
1963. This credit union is dedicated to the "people-helping-people"
philosophy of "Not for Profit, Not for Charity, But for
Service."
